Alpacas grow an incredible fleece. Fiber that stands apart — rarer than cashmere, warmer than wool, smoother than silk. Alpaca fiber is coveted for its insulating softness and is extremely lighweight. It is also warmer and stronger than sheeps wool. In fact, Peruvians called it "Inca Gold" for that very reason, and it was generally reserved for royalty.
Alpaca fiber, when processed into roving, can be spun into yarn or felted into rugs, garments, and art work. We should warn you though, when you get those knitting needles out, friends and relatives will wait in line for home spun knit hats and sweaters. Don't worry, we are capable of supplying roving by the ounce in a variety of color blends to satisfy their requests. Give us a call and let Twin Beeches Alpacas provide you with fiber fit for a king, or at least a chilly nephew.
